The N87 Ballyconnell Relief Road project comprised the construction of 1.5km of new single carriageway, together with a combined Cycleway & Footway over the extent of the mainline and a 36.5m span Bridge crossing the Woodford River. The scheme deliveried a new link road around the southeast of Ballyconnell, enabling the large volumes of traffic, including HGV’s, using this stragegic North-South route to bypass the town. The new link road tied in at at-grade junctions on the busy N87 Belturbet & R205 Derrylin roads. A 80m section of the existing Industrial Estate access road was also reconstructed. Works included:
- Site Clearance, including trees & shrubs
- Earthworks, including D&B of reinforced earth embankment
- Retaining walls, including D&B of 2no. reinforced earth, reinforced concrete and gabion retaining walls
- D&B of in-situ concrete culvert to accommodate existing Mill Race
- Street Lighting
- Pavement works
- Masonry Walling, including relocation of Ballyconnell Demesne Wall & Gate Sweeps (Recorded Protected Structure)
